Life of a Shaman - Living between Worlds

Definition of Shamanism and Shaman from Wikipedia ...
Shamanism is a practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with what they believe to be a spirit world and channel these transcendental energies into this world.[1]
A shaman (/ˈʃɑːmən/ SHAH-men, /ˈʃæmən/ or /ˈʃmən/)[2] is someone who is regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of benevolent and malevolent spirits, who typically enters into a trance state during a ritual, and practices divination and healing.[2]

Being a Shaman is not a part-time job. Actually it is not a job at all, it is a calling. It is something your soul chose before coming on this journey. It is something that is an integral part of every life experience you encounter. It is not something you can walk away from, believe me, I have tried.

A shaman is a bridge builder, a connection between the "unseen" world of spirits and the physical world most people define as reality. The reality of a shaman is far more fluid.

One of the biggest challenges for everyone is to balance and integrate their spiritual and physical experiences. For a shaman this challenge is multiplied tenfold and then some.

Being a shaman is a great honor. It is also a huge responsibility.

These days many people think they can become a shaman after a weekend experience of hallucinogenics. I would caution you to think again.

In Love and Gratitude,
Antonia Ruhl
