Ground Hog Day

Do you ever experience Ground Hog Day?

You know, like the movie of the same name. Do you ever feel that your life is in a rut and everyday is pretty much the same old same old?

This is the sad reality for many people, especially as they get older.

Why is that? Why does life become so monotonous for so many people?

I think it is because many people become too afraid to step out of their comfort zone so they choose the "known" over the "unknown" because they are afraid that the "unknown" might be worse than the "known", even though the "known" is quite dull and unpleasant.

Confused yet?

Let's see if I can say that a little simpler and clearer.

Many people end up in a rut because they are afraid of change.

As a result many people choose control over happiness.

They stay in a controlled environment even though they are not happy.

Why? Because they are too afraid to change anything in case it will make their life worse.

That is a very sad place to be but it is the reality for many people even though they don't acknowledge it.

What people often don't realise is that they sacrifice the possibility of life getting better in the process of restricting change.

Growth requires change. When we resist change by trying to control every aspect of our life we are also resisting growth.

When we lose trust in the process of life we are on the path to a life of misery.

Something to think about.

In Love and Gratitude,
Antonia Ruhl
