Life is a play of consciousness
One of the first things I learned as part of my shamanic training is that the outer world is a reflection of my inner world.
Reality, life as we experience, is a reflection of consciousness.
It is a a mirror that shows us what is going on within us.
This crucial teaching permeates all spiritual paths although it is often expressed in slightly different ways.
"As above so below", "As you sow so you shall reap", etc, etc.
So what? you may well say. How can I use this knowledge? How can I verify that it is actually true?
One of the best ways to use this knowledge is to use our external life experience as feedback.
Feedback on our (un)conscious creation.
If I experience a situation that I don't like I can look within and ask myself "How did I create this?"
Is it a reflection of a belief I hold?
Is it one of my fears coming to life?
Most people go into avoidance and denial, especially when it comes to uncomfortable life experiences. "Why would I ever have created this?"
It is important to understand that the creative process is automatic, it cannot be stopped, it can only be guided. We are spiritual beings constantly creating and recreating our external reality.
The question to ask is not "Why did I create this?" but "How did I create this?".
Denial takes us further down a victim mentality, where we deny our own creative power and feel more and more powerless. Powerless to change our life. We believe we are at the mercy of external forces.
Stepping into our true power changes everything. At first this can be very confronting, especially if we have created some challenging life situation. However, it is the only path to freedom. By owning all of my creations both conscious and unconscious I step into my power and know that I have the power to change anything I want to change.
Stepping into my true power and taking full responsibility for my life and my life experiences is by far the most important step. This can happen in an instant and in this instance my whole life can transform.
